It's March! Finally!! And I see I haven't posted since January. Must be I was busy shoveling snow. Right now it has been raining and the remaining snow is dirty with squishy mud everywhere. When I wasn't shoveling I did manage to to do a couple of paintings. One I call "Snow Flowers." There is always this sweet little clump of weeds outside my window covered with fluffs of snow. The painting ended up being more abstract but I just loved the color and the paint. I wasn't ready to stop but the painting was. I'm always amazed at how paintings end. Sometimes they take forever and sometimes they are done in the blink of an eye.
The next painting is of a collection of angels that I have in my home. I didn't realize I had so many. It was an interesting experience trying to capture the personalities of each of the five angels. Except for the tall wooded one, these were all gifts from friends. It was a lot of fun but took a bit longer than I realized. My last teacher, Helen Van Wyk, always said, "If you want to learn how to paint, do still life." I can't believe I have more angels waiting to be painted. Actually I'm looking forward to painting my garden flowers again. I'll have to keep busy and keep learning with my still life subjects for a few more weeks. Looking forward to Spring.....

Your snow flowers have a lovely freshness about them! But your angels are absolutely beautiful.

ReplyDeleteHi Liz:
ReplyDeleteThank-you for your comments. The "Snow Flowers" painting was one of those - OH! It's already done!- paintings. I'm always surprised when I don't suffer. :)
